About Me

Hello! This year I will be teaching fifth grade English, Language Arts, and Science. I have my Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Saint Vincent College as well as my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University. I completed my student teaching program at Trafford Middle and Trafford Elementary in 2012 and have worked for Penn Trafford ever since! In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, and going on adventures with my dogs, Chip and Murphy.

Policies and Procedures

It is our goal to help prepare your child for middle school. I have high expectations for my students and strive to help your child reach those expectations.

Fifth Grade Students will:

Treat all individuals with kindness and respect
Take responsibility for their learning and actions
Come to school on time, prepared and ready to learn
Listen and follow directions
Say "Hello" and "Goodbye" to their teachers and other staff each day
Be leaders and set an example for students in the younger grades

In fifth grade we use a colored slip system. Your child has the opportunity to earn a green slip to earn a prize, awarded for showing leadership qualities. We also utilize a yellow slip as a reminder to control our behavior and actions. Yellow slips are to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned the following day.

Homework Schedule

Our typical homework schedule is as follows:

Monday- Skills and Strategies Worksheet

Tuesday- Reading Review Worksheet

Wednesday- Grammar Worksheet (Review for Thursday's quiz)

Thursday- Cursive Spelling (Review for Friday's Test)

I will occasionally send home Science homework as needed.

Students will write their homework in their homework books daily. They are to have their homework books signed nightly (Monday-Thursday).

If students do not have their homework book signed they will miss 5 minutes of recess. If students do not have their homework completed they will miss recess for the amount of time that it takes to complete the assignment to my standards.

Google Classroom

All students have received an invite to join my google classroom. We will learn together how to navigate classroom and utilize it. We will complete assignments on the classroom when needed.
