This spring, students, staff, and parents from Harrison Park, McCullough, Sunrise, and Trafford Elementary Schools (Penn-Trafford School District) took part in the Pittsburgh Marathon “Kids of Steel” running program. Throughout the season, participants learned about proper stretching and running techniques. They logged weekly miles totaling up to 25 miles for the season. On May 2, the group traveled to the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, where they completed their final mile to reach a full 26-mile marathon.
“The students loved attending weekly practice sessions to build up their confidence, and enjoyed celebrating their last mile in Pittsburgh,” commented coach/teacher Mrs. Gianna Ray.
