Mrs. Weismann’s second-grade class at Trafford Elementary School recently completed a project to go along with a reading unit called “Preserving Our Earth”. The assignment challenged students to create a recycled craft using items they would have otherwise discarded.
The project challenged students to think about reusing everyday materials in new ways. After creating their crafts at home, students brought them to school and presented them to their classmates. Each student explained what they made, what materials they used, and the function of their creation.
Examples of the projects included items such as a telescope from a cardboard tube, a robot from boxes, and a fishbowl from paper plates.
Lydia Mellon created a guitar
Jaxson Tichenor created a cockroach
