‘Throws for Trafford’ Raises Playground Funds

Penn-Trafford High School Senior Matthew Sarnowski has his eyes set on the future.  He has committed to Penn State University to major in Chemical Engineering and hopes to compete on the Track and Field team.

However, Matt’s heart is firmly secured in his past.  When the Trafford Elementary alum heard that his former elementary school’s playground was removed, Matthew decided to create a fundraiser, “Throws for Trafford,” in which donors can pledge based on the total distance Matthew throws the shot put, javelin, and discus (in feet) during his events this season. Donors can also make a one-time donation.

“Matthew’s actions warmed the hearts of his former teachers who have been working tirelessly for two years to fund a new playground,” commented teacher Mr. Bujdos.  “Everyone in Trafford is very thankful for and proud of this young man."
