The students at Trafford Elementary School participated in relay races throughout the week of January 22nd to raise funds for a new playground.
Each day during recess, two different grade levels raced against each other while working towards the same goal. Students raised monetary donations towards the playground fund as they participated in the races.
Trafford Elementary's 20-year-old playground was removed prior to the start of this school year. Over the past year, the school’s PTO has raised $112,000 through grant writing, fundraising events, and donations. Fundraising will continue to reach the total $155,000 needed for the new equipment. A "Night at the Races" will take place in April and a GoFundMe page has been established for donations: https://www.gofundme.com/f/trafford-elementary-playground.
The PTO hopes to secure all the funds to break ground on the new playground for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
