Penn-Trafford Delivers 18,548 Letters to Santa

The Penn-Trafford School District participated in Macy’s “National Believe Week”, which raises funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation for every letter to Santa collected.  Penn-Trafford’s letter-writing campaign was spearheaded by Mrs. Meghan Coleman (second-grade teacher at McCullough Elementary) and Mrs. Christa Cerutti (first-grade teacher at Sunrise Estates Elementary).

On December 9th, Mrs. Cerutti and Mrs. Coleman delivered 18,548 letters to Macy’s during National Believe Week. For letters delivered during this week, Make-A-Wish® received $2 for every letter instead of $1. Penn-Trafford’s efforts raised $37,096.  It takes approximately $4,400 to grant one wish. This means that Penn-Trafford raised enough money to grant over 8 wishes this year through Santa letter-writing efforts.

Tune in to the Make-A-Wish telethon on December 21st from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm to see the check presentation.  The telethon, which is produced by the high school’s television production classes, will be streamed live on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube (@PennTraffordTV).
