The start of the school year coincides with the migration of the Monarch butterfly. The butterflies make their way through Western Pennsylvania in August and September as they travel to Mexico.
In an annual lesson, Mr. Bujdos’ third-grade students at Trafford Elementary School spent some time observing the caterpillars' life cycle in the classroom before setting the adult butterflies on their southward journey.
