Hello and welcome to my page!

Your child is in for an exciting, challenging, and fun year in first grade. I am confident that this school year is going to be a productive and magical year. First things first, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you and your child to my classroom. 

This is my twelfth year teaching first grade and every year is different and rewarding!

Prior to teaching first grade, I was a substitute teacher for the Penn Trafford School District for 6 years, with long-term substitute positions in various grade levels including 4th grade, 5th grade, and also at the high school.

I grew up in Johnstown, PA and received my B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2004. I then decided to move to this area to pursue my master's degree in early childhood education at the University of Pittsburgh that I received in December 2008. 

On my free time, I love being a "momma" to my amazing daughter Shaylan and sweet son Sebastian, traveling with my husband, and watching hockey, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins! 

I believe in open communication with you and your child so that we are always aware of any changes that may occur. A successful learning experience begins with cooperative efforts among the parent(s)/guardian(s), the child, and the teacher. I want your child to feel as comfortable as possible in our classroom.
